'I feel like Zac's country has let him down': Cancer boy, 7, forced to travel to Germany for lifesaving operation

By CLAIRE ELLICOTT and KATHERINE FAULKNER

Emergency: Zac's parent's are taking him to Germany for immediate treatment

A mother yesterday flew her son to Germany for a lifesaving operation after two NHS hospitals delayed his treatment for lack of beds.
Fearing another 11th-hour cancellation, Sam Knighton has spent £10,000 taking Zac abroad for immediate treatment for neuroblastoma, a form of cancer.
The seven-year-old will be operated on tomorrow at the University Hospital Greifswald in an attempt to remove three diseased lymph nodes.
Last night, Miss Knighton, 43, told the Daily Mail: ‘I feel like Zac’s country has let him down.

Tragic: Cousins Chelsea Knighton when she was aged three pictured left and Zac pictured right, when he was aged five, were both diagnosed with neuroblastoma

'I have had to fight, argue and question everything along the way to help my son.
‘I just hope we’re in time – it could already be too late.
'I dread to think what would have happened if we’d stayed in England.’
Zac began showing symptoms of the disease in October 2008.
He saw two GPs, both of whom missed the neuroblastoma, passing the swelling off as a stomach upset. Finally, a third GP referred him for tests.

No other option: Zac, pictured centre with his parents, Bob Smith left, and Sam Knighton, right who are taking him abroad for a lifesaving operation

Zac was diagnosed with grade four neuroblastoma, a cancer of the developing nervous tissue. There was a 5in-long tumour in his stomach.
Miss Knighton said: ‘The specialist came in to examine Zac. He lifted up his T-shirt and said: 'How in God’s name did two doctors miss that?''
Zac was referred to Leicester Royal Infirmary where he began chemotherapy in March 2009 and then a procedure to remove the tumour.
The hospital told Miss Knighton and her partner Bob Smith, 42, a forklift truck driver, there could still be ‘residual disease’ around the tumour site.
More chemotherapy followed but a delay for a separate illness meant Zac missed the deadline for a vital course of antibody therapy.

Johannes Visser, a consultant paediatric oncologist at Leicester who has been caring for Zac since 2009, said:
‘Unfortunately, our unit was extraordinarily busy with critically ill children needing help to breathe, so his operation was rescheduled.’
A spokesman for Nottingham University Hospitals said: ‘The first date we offered for Zac’s operation was January 19, which the family have chosen not to accept, and therefore we haven’t cancelled any surgery.’

Now we can REALLY see you're pregnant! Jennifer Garner slips on sheer maternity top

By LEAH SIMPSON

We can see you! Jennifer Garner wore a see-through black top that showed off her bump as she prepared to go shopping for kid's clothes in California yesterday

With her due date evidently around the corner, Jennifer Garner is making the most of baby bump by parading her ready to pop tummy around town.
While the actress is no stranger to wearing outfits that show off her protruding stomach, this time she has gone as far as giving the world a closer glimpse of her burgeoning belly.
The starlet donned a sheer top that revealed her prominent belly button and in the sunlight, even a hint of flesh.

Looking younger: Ben Affleck pictured on Thursday leaving a birthday party he and Garner threw for daughter Seraphina, also pictured with Violet, left

On a trip to pick up some children’s clothing from Petit Ami in the Pacific Palisades, the star’s top would have exposed every lump and bump if it wasn’t for the oversized checked shirt she donned which apparently belonged to her husband.
Her actor beau was seen on Thursday wearing a similar design as he spent time with their children Violet, aged six, and Seraphina, who recently had a 3rd birthday party.
Ben Affleck had apparently made a trip to the hair salon before he celebrated his youngest daughter's special day by throwing a party.

Bad hair day? Ben covers up his locks as he takes his dog for a walk today in Brentwood California

The greying actor showed off much darker and shiner locks as he walked around in Los Angeles clutching to a large gift.
Yesterday, his wife kept a little more to the imagination.
The star looked stylish in a navy blue silk blouse and riding boots, accessoried with an ocelot print scarf as she made time for a spot of lunch with some girlfriends in Santa Monica.

Ladies who lunch: A heavily pregnant Jennifer Garner enjoyed a leisurely lunch with friends today

Three's companty; The actress has announced that she is expecting a boy

The heavily pregnant actress has mum Patricia her mother at the ready and was seen out with her last week for a family New Year's Day stroll in Pacific Palisades, California.
Jennifer, who expecting a son in early 2012, has also been spending some quality time with most important man in her life at the moment, her husband.

Healthy eating: Jennifer is trying to be healthful even as she craves junk food

Jennifer has revealed she craved nothing but junk food during her first trimester and couldn't resist bringing calorific treats into her otherwise healthful home.
'My kids had never seen Doritos before. They would say, 'Mom, where did you get that orange chip? I really want that,'' she told America's InStyle magazine.
She also couldn't say no to the carb-heavy meals she prepares for Violet, 6, and Seraphina, three.

Mrs Affleck: Jennifer has spoken about her solid marriage to Ben Affleck

'I'm trying really hard to be mindful, but when I'm making the kids mac and cheese, I want it badly.'
She added: 'I wish I was one of those cute pregnant girls who wear skinny jeans throughout their pregnancies but I just gain weight.'

Jennifer Nicole Lee gave an eye-popping demonstration of her exercise routine yesterday when she stripped off to work out in a South Beach, Florida park.
The 36-year-old mother-of-two proved why she is a fitness guru by stretching and toning up in a tiny outfit.
Wearing stripy blue shorts and a hot pink sports bra she seemed oblivious to passers-by as she went through her exercise routine.

Bums and tums: Jennifer Nicole shows off her enviable physique

The Florida blonde has her own fitness DVD collection, called JNL Fusion.
It's not the first time she has been spotted pouring her curvaceous, but toned figure into a series of poses.
She frequently takes to the streets of Miami proving that you don't need a gym membership to remain trim.

Toning up: The mother-of-two has become a fitness guru since shedding 80lbs

Earlier this week she was photographed kickboxing with a trainer, while wearing tight, gold hot pants and a black bra top, with a whistle dangling around her neck.
But on this occasion she worked up a sweat alone.
Jennifer Nicole's weight loss is a success story upon which she has built a fitness empire.

Going through the motions: Jennifer Nicole focuses on her workout routine

She rocketed to 200lbs after the birth of her second child.
The married mum then set about losing over 80lbs and was crowned Miss Bikini America in 1996.
She has since published several books, workout DVDs and has launched her own swimwear line.
'It's my goal and passion to help increase the quality of everyone's lifestyle,' Jennifer Nicole promises her fans on her website.
Her weight loss journey and subsequent business ventures led her to even appear on Oprah and several television shows.

Stretching: Jennifer Nicole showed off some impressive moves

Agile: Jennifer Nicole balances herself on an exercise ball

Jennifer Nicole promotes her clothes which have catchy phrases emblazoned across them.
She frequently wears T-shirts and hot pants that say: 'Kiss my abs,' 'I dare you' and 'strong is the new sexy.'
Earlier this week the toned blonde posted an inspirational message on her Facebook page.
It says: 'Let them make their New Year's resolutions, while WE create our NEW YEAR EVOLUTIONS!
'Let them "resolve", while we EVOLVE!
'Resolutions are weak and impotent, when EVOLUTIONS are STRONG and LONG LASTING!
'And remember, its [sic] survival of the fittest, and those who evolve WIN and achieve their goals!'

Putting her back into it: Jennifer Nicole cleared a space for herself in the park

'I like having a bit of meat on my bones': Kelly Brook reveals the secret to her perfect hourglass figure

By SADIE WHITELOCKS

Model and actress Kelly says that it is only ahead of a red carpet event that she steps up her exercise regime

The public voted her as having the best bikini body of 2011, ranking her above the likes of Pippa Middleton and Jennifer Lopez.
And since her teens Kelly Brook has turned heads with her 34-24-34 hourglass figure.
The 32-year-old admits that she might not look like a stereotypical size zero model, but proudly says that a 'bit of meat on my bones' makes her feel sexier.

And to feel confident about her body, 5ft 8in Kelly tells Women's Fitness magazine that she maintains a balanced diet, leads an active lifestyle and gets top advice from skincare expert, Nichola Joss, whose clients include Keira Knightley, Scarlett Johansson and Cate Blanchett.
While many will turn to crash diets in the New Year, Kelly says that she never diets because she's not disciplined enough and enjoys regularly snacking on biscuits.

Follow Nichola Joss' excercises to help you get a body like Kelly Brook's

Instead, the star says she steers away from restrictive regimes, insisting it is all about sensible slimming.
‘I have porridge or boiled eggs for breakfast. I love tea and coffee and could drink them all day and snack on biscuits, but I eat fruit if I’m trying to be healthy.
'I also eat a lot of fish, for lunch and dinner. I love sushi or I’ll have a tuna Niçoise salad or salmon steak. I like to make lots of healthy soups in winter, too.’
To keep her body toned Kelly snubs excessive exercise, and says that it's more effective to adopt a little and often approach.
‘I must have good muscle memory. I appreciate that a lot now, because I know some people find it harder to see results as they get older.

Kelly reveals how she perfects her shape in this month's Women's Fitness magazine

She adds: 'I like to glow on the red carpet and always feel confident if my skin is looking its best. I also kick up the fitness a bit and hit the gym a few times in the run-up.’
Kelly, who is currently holidaying in Capri, Italy, with boyfriend and former rugby player Thom Evans is looking forward to a busy 2012.
She is set to star in Leigh Francis' comedy film, Keith Lemon The Movie.

Could an $8 paper face mask replace $100 facials? The Korean beauty trend set to take the U.S. by storm

By HANNAH RAND

Beauty bargain: A new line of paper face masks from Korea promise to deliver the same results as a professional in-spa facial

Celebrities' flawless and seemingly age-defying skin is more usually down to expensive facials than just good genes alone.
Now, a new product promises to deliver the same benefits at a fraction of the cost.
Already a huge hit in Korea, Masqueology claims that its paper face masks offer results that you'd only usually get from professional spa treatments.

Starting at $24 for a set of three, the product is due to hit U.S. stores in March, and will be available exclusively at Sephora.
Miles Lichterman, chief operating officer of Beauty Architects, the company bringing the product to the U.S. explained that the idea is aimed at time-poor consumers, who don't have the time to set aside an hour for a fortnightly at-home beauty ritual.
He told WWD: 'In Asia, facial masks are a dime store product. In our market, they exist, but they have been hidden.'

Best man sheds half his bodyweight after wedding photos reveal he dwarfed size 8 bridesmaid

By SADIE WHITELOCKS

Shocking: The photo that shamed groomsman Andrew Montgomery, left, into losing half his bodyweight

A man who had never weighed himself told how an unflattering wedding photograph forced him to shed half his bodyweight.
Andrew Montgomery, 34, tipped the scales at 30 stone after a decade of unhealthy living that saw him gorge on a diet of junk food and unhealthy snacks.
He had a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 60.26 - a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 25 - putting him in the morbidly obese category, and could not climb a single flight of stairs without panting.
But is was only when he saw pictures of himself dwarfing a slim size 8 bridesmaid at a friend's wedding that he finally realised he had a serious weight problem.

Drastic measures: 34-year-old Andrew, far left, bought a treadmill and consumed just 500 calories a day to shed the weight, before embarking upon a healthy eating plan

In a bid to fight the pounds Andrew, from County Armagh, Northern Ireland, joined an online weight loss site called Lighter Life last January.
He bought a treadmill and consumed just 500 calories a day, living on milkshakes, soup and cereal bars, before eating a balanced diet after ten months.

Transformation: Andrew, who has lost 15 stone in 12 months, is now hoping to find himself a wife

He has since lost 15 stone and is hoping his new physique will be the boost he needs to help him find a wife this year.
The agricultural contractor said: 'I couldn't avoid the pictures and it was a shock to see how huge I looked next to a size eight bridesmaid.

Wake-up call: Andrew had never weighed himself, saying he didn't realise how big he really was

After shedding 15 stone in 12 months, Andrew is hoping to move out of the home he shares with his mother Mary, 60, who desperately tried to encourage him to be more healthy.
She said: 'I used to be terrified that Andrew wouldn't wake up in the morning - he was miserable, our relationship was in tatters and I never thought he'd get and girlfriend and move out.
'Now all he needs is to find a nice girl to sweep off her feet - let's see what the New Year brings.'
